Owls hit back to earn draw against Werder Bremen – The London Owls

A late strike from Djeidi Gassama completed Wednesday’s fightback to take a 2-2 draw from our friendly with Bundesliga Werder Bremen in Austria this afternoon.

The sides played a match of four 30-minute quarters and, with 97 minutes gone and the Owls trailing 2-1, Gassama fired home to ensure a share of the warm-up spoilers.

We fell behind at the start of the second quarter and Bremen doubled their lead on 47 minutes, young keeper Pierce Charles also doing well to keep out other efforts.

Danny Röhl changed every position on the pitch at the start of the third quarter and we halved the deficit on 80 minutes when Anthony Musaba went round the Bremen keeper before slotting home.

With Wednesday further improving as the game wore on, Gassama then pounced with our equalizer to wrap up the German training camp week in promising fashion.
