(Switzerland County, Ind.) – Indiana State Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Switzerland County.

On Sunday, July 21, a homeowner in the 10000 block of Searcy Ridge Road, near Patriot, saw a man, identified as Aaron Snyder, enter his home after reportedly breaking down a door.

The homeowner shot the suspect at least once, hitting Snyder.

According to ISP, there were two adults and some small children in the house at the time. After the gunshots, the residents of the house immediately called 911.

Emergency services arrived and Snyder was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office responded first and then requested ISP to lead the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

At the end of the investigation, the case will be submitted to the Public Prosecution Service so that it can be determined whether the homeowner will be charged.
