Yukon Czech Hall Celebrates 125th Anniversary on the Veranda

The Yukon Czech Hall is celebrating its 125th anniversary this weekend with a traditional war dance and party.

News 9’s Jordan Ryan attended the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to get a taste of how they celebrate and share their culture.

On July 27, the Yukon Czech Hall will host a free dance and program to learn more about the history and culture of Czechoslovakia.

Elaine Benda, president and dance committee member of the Yukon Czech Hall, said everyone is welcome to come learn.

“We’re going to have a battle dance, which doesn’t happen very often. We’re going to have two bands on stage and the music won’t stop from 7 to 10:30,” Benda said.

She said the hall is special because it is a place where people of all ages come together.

“It’s a place where a five-year-old and a ninety-year-old can dance together, and a sixteen-year-old joins them,” Benda said.
