“Some combinations of corners, for example Eau Rouge-Raidillon, are very demanding and have unique characteristics, in this particular case a strong compression that puts a lot of stress on both the driver and the car.

“Normally the degradation at this circuit is mainly thermal, but the new surface could be a decisive factor in this area, given the extra grip the tyres get.

“Finally, how can you discuss a race weekend at Spa-Francorchamps without taking the weather into account? If there is one venue on the motorsport calendar, not just Formula 1, where changeable weather can play a role, it is this one.”
