Barbara Jean Ziemski – Duluth News Tribune

Barbara Jean Ziemski said goodbye to her family and friends in the early morning of Friday, July 19, 2024. She passed away peacefully, leaving her pain and anguish behind in a more comforting and peaceful home.

Barb was born on October 19, 1951, in Duluth, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Stella (Panfil) Ziemski. She graduated from Cathedral High School and attended secretarial classes at Lake Superior College.

Barb retired from MN DOT in 2010 after over 40 years as an administrative support secretary. She also served as a secretary for Local 695 Union and Barnes and Noble for over a decade. She also volunteered for Grandma’s Marathon and Bentleyville for many years.

She loved to travel and visited Hawaii, China, Spain, Hong Kong, Italy, Germany and Poland, among other places.

Her true pride and joy was her blue 1976 Corvette Stingray, which she exhibited at many car shows. Barb also loved all animals, especially the deer and squirrels, which she fed daily. She had two pet rabbits, Bunny Holly and FDR.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; cousin Jeff Petite; and many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

She is survived by her sisters; Judy Pasek, of Duluth, MN, and Kathy Petite, of Superior, WI; nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Dave Kolosky.

Her family would like to thank Bee Hive Homes, especially Jenn, and Gentiva Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Barb.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with Mass of Christian Burial led by Rev. Fr. Anthony Craig at 11:00 am on Friday, July 26th at Holy Family Catholic Church (2430 W. 3rd St, Duluth, MN). Burial will be in the Polish Catholic Cemetery. She will be missed by her family.
