ALGS talks about the circuit’s exciting return to Europe in 2024

The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) is a premier esports tournament circuit organized by EA and Respawn Entertainment for the developer’s popular battle royale game Apex Legends.

The ALGS is one of the premier battle royale esports tournaments in the world, offering both seasoned pros and emerging Apex Legends talent the chance to shine on the world stage.

The circuit’s long-awaited return to Germany sees Apex fans from the region gather to celebrate another thrilling tournament on the road to the championship.

“Over the past few years, we’ve hosted LAN events on both coasts of the United States and in the United Kingdom, and we’re excited to come to Germany for the first time and connect with our fanbase in Eastern Europe,” Chiang told ONE Esports.

Major developments from other esports events made waves this year, including the first Esports World Cup in Riyadh and an added tournament to the LoL esports calendar.

When asked about potential structural additions to the format, Apex Legends’ Esports Brand Lead only said that “more can be expected regarding future ALGS competitions.”

“Layered updates” tighten security for Split 2 Playoffs, according to Senior Brand Marketing Manager Jasmine Chiang

During the 2024 North American Regional Finals, an incident occurred when DarkZero’s Noyan “Genburten” Ozkose and Team Falcons’ Phillip “ImperialHal” Dosen were hacked mid-match.

This was confirmed a few hours later by Respawn, who temporarily suspended the event until full “competitive integrity” could be achieved.

In response to a question about security surrounding Split 2 Playoffs, Jasmine Chiang assured ONE Esports that “our teams have rolled out a series of security updates designed to protect players and maintain competitive integrity.”

“We are confident in the effectiveness of these layered updates. We have dedicated teams closely monitoring and addressing any concerns that may impact ALGS play.”

There have been no hacking incidents observed since the NA Regional Finals on March 18.

Bigger and better

This is the first time that SAP Arena has hosted a professional esports event.

The stadium is one of the largest and most technologically advanced arenas on the continent, making it a promising venue for the Split 2 playoffs. And the esports team has certainly delivered.

“Organizing a global esports event takes months and months of complex planning, from scouting for venues to selecting a location and securing floor plans,” Chiang noted.

The SAP Arena has hosted some of the biggest concerts in the past decade, featuring names like Justin Timberlake and Madonna.

Chiang shared: “We look forward to combining SAP Arena’s latest technology with our team’s technical expertise to deliver another memorable show for our players and fans.”
