The Dundalk Schoolboys’ League Gothia Cup squad of 26 players and staff – plus a further 56 parents, siblings and siblings – all arrived home safely on Sunday evening after a hectic but wonderful adventure in Sweden, where they took part in the world’s largest youth football tournament in Gothenburg.

A total of 1,911 teams, aged 11 to 18, from 73 countries played in this year’s Gothia Cup. Dundalk reached the last 16 of 254 teams (the highest number of participants in any category), played seven games, scored 23 goals and conceded only five. The week started in torrential rain and ended in 26 degrees of heat.
