Czech Government Scholarships 2025/2026 for Developing Countries – Masters and PhD

The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports offers scholarships for developing countries. Applications for these scholarships are open to all students from developing countries and/or countries undergoing a process of political and economic transition.

About the price: Thanks to a generous contribution from the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Faculty of Social Sciences can offer a limited number of partial scholarships for students of all paid study programmes. In total, __scholarships are available, intended for students from developing countries and/or countries undergoing a process of political and economic transition.

By decision of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, scholarships of the Government of the Czech Republic are awarded to promote specific Bachelor’s, Master’s, Advanced Master’s and/or Doctoral study programmes in the full-time study format of a specific study programme run by a university (or its faculty) for a period equal to the regular duration of studies. Scholarships are not transferable to other persons or to other academic years. Once a scholarship has been awarded, neither the university, nor the study programme and/or the field of study can be changed.

Selection criteria and admission requirements

  • The scholarships are intended exclusively to promote the studies of adults who are foreign nationals from developing countries in need. Therefore, neither a citizen of the Czech Republic, nor a citizen of a Member State of the European Union, nor another foreign national with a permit for permanent residence on the territory of the Czech Republic, can be awarded this type of scholarship. In addition, the scholarships cannot be awarded to persons under the age of 18. (Applicants must have reached the age of 18 on 1 September of the year in which they start studying in the Czech Republic.)
  • In Bachelor/Master/Doctoral study programmes plus one-year preparatory course of English language (combined with other subject-specific training): Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates of high schools or bachelor’s/master’s degree programmes, as applicable, who can enrol only in study programmes in which instruction is provided in English. Depending on the field of study, applicants are normally required to take entrance examinations at the relevant higher education institution. Successful completion of the entrance examination is a condition for the award of the scholarship; or
  • In further study programs Master or Doctoral study programs: Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates of Bachelor or Master study programs respectively. Enroll in the WHO study programs with education in English language.

In addition, the Scholarship Review Board will consider applicants’ previous studies. Priority will be given to students who have not previously had the opportunity to study abroad.

Number of scholarships: To be defined

Duration of the fairs: These government grants are intended to cover the standard duration of study plus one-year preparatory course in Czech(which is combined with other subject-specific training).

Value of scholarships:

  • The scholarship covers the necessary costs related to the stay and study in the Czech Republic. The amount of the scholarship is changed regularly.
  • Currently, the amount paid to students for a bachelor’s, master’s or advanced master’s degree is CZK 14,000 per month
  • While the amount paid to students of a doctoral program is 15,000 Czech crowns per month.

The above scholarship amounts include an amount intended for the payment of accommodation costs. Costs for accommodation, food and public transport are covered by scholarship holders from the scholarship under the same conditions that apply to students who are citizens of the Czech Republic. Should the student require health care that exceeds the standard of care, he/she will pay for it at his/her own expense.

  • Georgia,
  • Moldavia,
  • Ukraine,
  • And Zambia.

How to apply:

Each applicant is required to complete the following form: an electronic application form no later than 30 September 2024. The successful applicant will start studying in the academic year 2025/2026.
