Pushpa 2 & Game Changer influence the plans of others

The December 2024 season looks set to be a competitive battleground at the box office, especially for Nithin and Naga Chaitanya. Both the actors were initially scheduled to release their films — Nithin’s Robinhood and Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel — on December 20, 2024. That may not be an easy scenario now.

The announcement of Ram Charan’s much-awaited film Game Changer, slated for Christmas 2024 release, and the confirmation of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2, releasing on December 6 with no change in plans, are forcing the makers of Nithin and Chay’s films to rethink their release strategies.

Reports are coming in that Allu Arvind, producer of Thandel, has already decided to push Thandel to early 2025, which will help the film avoid a direct clash with Game Changer. This strategic move is aimed at maximizing the box office potential of Thandel without competing with a big release.

Meanwhile, Nithiin’s Robinhood will now hit the screens in February 2025 as reports surface from Mythri Movie Makers, giving more time for promotional activities and a clearer release window. While there won’t be a problem with theaters for Mythri, if their Pushpa 2 is already doing well from December 6, then they might not find the right screens for Robinhood themselves.

However, if Game Changer does not release on the said date, then it will be a huge mistake by Robinhood and Thandel to shift the release date. That is why the producers and also the distributors of these movies are worried. Last year we saw how a change in the release date by Salaar and Animal affected the Tollywood releases in December.
