In other transfer news, Mamelodi Sundowns have bolstered their defensive options by signing versatile defender Kegan Johannes from SuperSport United. The 23-year-old, who played a pivotal role under Gavin Hunt at Matsatsantsa, joins Masandawana on a multi-year deal, adding depth to their back line for the new season.

Competition in Sundowns’ defensive line-up

Johannes, known for his adaptability in multiple defensive positions including right back, centre back and central defensive midfielder, will face stiff competition at Mamelodi Sundowns. He will be competing for a starting spot with experienced players such as Khuliso Mudau, Thapelo Morena and Zuko Mdunyelwa, under the guidance of new head coach Manqoba Mngqithi and assistant Romain Folz.

Sundowns recently underwent a change in management with the departure of Rulani Mokwena to Wydad Casablanca. Mngqithi now leads the team, supported by Folz and senior coach Steve Komphela, as they prepare for the upcoming campaign amid significant squad shake-ups.
