Connor Goldson’s move to Greece/Cyrpus is gaining traction after the Rangers defender was reportedly spotted boarding a plane to the Mediterranean. It is claimed the former Brighton man is in talks over a switch to Cypriot club Aris Limassol.

Is there any truth to this?

We wonder why, if these photos and claims are true, manager Philippe Clement would approve a visit to the Mediterranean for the goalkeeper in the middle of pre-season, separate from football matters.

On your way to Aris?

We are of course well aware of how Rangers winger Scott Wright was captured by some Sky cameras at Glasgow Airport stating that he went there to survey Pendikspor.

So it’s nothing new that players take a plane in the summer, but as mentioned, it’s usually for football business, and not ‘just a holiday’.

That means that if Goldson was on a plane to southern Europe, chances are he was given permission to give a speech in a club, like Scott Wright, and the Chinese would probably say it was Aris.

There’s no official word on the matter yet, and we’ve heard rumours that Birmingham in League One are interested, but clearly his salary is a barrier – £40,000 a week is a bit steep for a league where £6,000 is the generally accepted salary.

As for Saudi Arabia, neither his teammate James Tavernier were interested in the Middle East, so he apparently died.

And now we await further news about a possible exit for the centre half. To Cyprus?
