Norwegian pelagic fisheries report – week 29 of 2024

Beautiful weather in the north, but the mackerel remains in shallow water and causes problems, reports Norges Sildesalgslag for week 29 of 2024.

Mackerel:

The weather in the north has been great recently, but the mackerel are still in shallow water, which is a challenge for the nets. Of this, 27 tonnes were caught in the south, with the remainder in the north.

North Sea herring:

It was a quiet week for North Sea herring. Seven boats went out, with Friday being the most productive day, with 1,079 tonnes. Two bursts on Thursday and Friday make up the bulk of this week’s catch, with a total of 2,952 tonnes reported.

NVG Herring:

There were also some NVG herring caught by three different boats, which fished a total of 162 tonnes.

Blue whiting:

A total of 679 tonnes of blue whiting were caught at “the Edge” by the two boats, Håflu and Cetus.
