An entire contingent of Paralympic athletes from Ghana have gone missing after travelling from Accra to Oslo, Norway, for a competition, it has emerged.

According to a statement from the Ministry of National Security, the team, consisting of 11 people, did not register and did not participate in the competition for which they traveled to Norway.

Instead, they largely fled to other EU countries.

However, one member of the team, Nana Antwi, was arrested by Norwegian security officials when she tried to escape from Norway to Sweden.

A coach of the team, George Gyamfi Gyasi, also lost consciousness and died due to unknown reasons.

Security officials across the European Union have now been alerted and are searching for the runaways.
