Syrskyi: Russian troops advance to Pokrovsk despite heavy losses

Ukrainian Supreme Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi has reported heavy fighting along the eastern front, with Russian forces continuing to advance toward Pokrovsk City in Donetsk Oblast despite significant losses. In a Facebook post on the morning of July 22, Colonel General Syrskyi described the ongoing fighting in several locations.

According to Syrskyi, heavy fighting is taking place in Krasnohorivka, as well as in the areas of Prohres, Zalizne, Pivnichne and Chasiv Yar. He also noted that Russian forces are trying to take Stelmakhivka and Luhansk’s Makiivka, while attacking Ukrainian positions in Ivanivske and Klishchiivka.

According to him, the occupiers are also trying to take islands in the floodplains on the left bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region.

Syrskyi stressed that active combat operations of varying intensity are taking place along the entire front.

To stop the Russian advance, he outlined a number of necessary measures, including effective fire damage to their main force and reserves at long range, extensive attacks on the enemy in front of the forward lines, stable maintenance of prepared defense lines and positions, and maximally effective use of all available weapons and ammunition, especially combat drones.

The Ukrainian commander also stressed the importance of utilizing the advantages of combat and FPV drones to destroy enemy UAVs.
