Antonov transports super heavy cargo from Italy and Brazil to Chile

Antonov AN-124-100 aircraft transports satellite, Sept 2020

The companies were tasked with moving a rim from Italy and a ferrule from Brazil, two components of a quicklime kiln. The loads, which together weighed about 80 tons, were destined for a paper mill in Region VIII of Chile.

Both parts had to be replaced during a factory shutdown. With strict time schedules it was necessary to deliver both parts at the same time.

Olha Danylovacommercial director at Antonov Airlines said: “This project was interesting and unique. The cargo was located in two different parts of the world. It was necessary to develop a system of attachments and points to secure the cargo, so that there was no need to build a frame, which is a long and financially expensive process. In collaboration with our client login we organised a trip of our load planner specialist to the production facility in Italy to assist with the lashing planning. This project was carried out as a result of a successful collaboration: everything went smoothly. The cargo was safely delivered to Chile.”

Alexander Bangdirector of product management air freight worldwide for Logwin, added: “It was amazing to see in Italy how dedicated and professional all the arrangements were made by the teams involved from the Ukrainian Antonov / NEO Air Charter and Logwin in Germany, Italy and Brazil. The extra load in Brazil went smoothly and the AN-124 arrived in Chile on time and was unloaded without problems.”
