Princess Anne’s final appearance takes her back to the hospital – and for a very good reason

Princess Anne is back in the hospital, but this time for a safer reason.

The Princess Royal officially opened Worcestershire Hospital’s new Emergency Department on Friday. She unveiled a plaque to commemorate the day and the new department, gave a tour of the new facilities and spoke to staff to discuss what they do and what their days are like.

The £35 million project helped expand the existing Emergency Department, providing more space for several departments and creating a larger children’s department with its own separate entrance.

Princess Anne took time to speak to various units and showed particular interest in the planning process and the specific needs of the department.

In the last week of June, The Princess Royal was rushed to Southmead Hospital after suffering a head injury at her Gatcombe Estate. Buckingham Palace reported that Anne had suffered a concussion and spent five days in hospital before being discharged. Doctors said her injuries were consistent with being kicked by a horse.

Understandably, the Princess Royal has been taking some time off from commitments while she recovers. Her first commitment back was earlier in July when she attended the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College.
