Governor Parson travels to UK and Belgium for trade talks

Governor Mike Parson is on a mission – a trade mission, that is. He’s headed to the United Kingdom and Belgium today to try to boost business in Missouri there.

The trip includes stops in London and Brussels to meet with government leaders, diplomats and executives from several companies, including Anheuser-Busch InBev, Duvel Moorgat and Whitebridge Pet Brands. Governor Parson will visit the Farnborough International Airshow and meet with executives from Boeing, Leonardo and Sonaca, all of whom have existing relationships with Missouri. During his stay, the Governor will also attend a reception with Karen Pierce, the British Ambassador to the United States.

A press release from Parsons’ office said the U.K. and Belgium invested more than $637 million in exports last year. Among the exported goods in highest demand in the U.K. are chemicals, metal products and transportation equipment. In Belgium, chemicals are the goods in highest demand in Missouri.

The trade mission is expected to last until July 26.
