Technique Solaire signs 20-year solar energy contract with Air France

Independent renewable energy producer Technique Solaire has announced the signing of a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Air France Group. The agreement, covering more than 13 GWh/year, will provide the airline with renewable solar energy at a stable and competitive price in the long term.

The electricity is produced by two ground-mounted solar parks. The first park, located in Saint Priest Taurion (87), has an installed capacity of 5 MWc and will start its PPA in 2025. The second park, with a capacity of 6 MWc, will be operational in 2026 and is located in Pouillé (86). Together, these installations will generate 13 GWh/year, which represents around 10% of Air France’s annual energy consumption.

This contract marks Technique Solaire’s first PPA in France, following a similar agreement in India in 2021 with the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). The company aims to accelerate its growth through this economic model, which supports companies in decarbonizing their energy supply. Technique Solaire aims for such contracts to account for 50% of its electricity production by 2030.

PPAs are seen as a catalyst for the energy transition and offer significant benefits for all parties involved. They promote the construction of new solar power plants in France and Europe, and offer buyers price stability and access to renewable energy. Producers in turn get secure investments in plant projects and improved sales planning.

“We are very pleased to have concluded this PPA with the Air France Group,” said Thomas de Moussac, Co-Founder and Managing Director in charge of Development, and Clément Blaizot, Director of Innovation at Technique Solaire. “We plan to replicate this type of contract, as we believe in the relevance and potential of this economic model to accelerate the energy transition. These agreements will be powerful levers to achieve Technique Solaire’s target of 4 GWc by 2030.”
