Julius Baer brings in former German banker for Thai market

Zurich-based Julius Baer has hired a former Deutsche Bank executive as group head in Thailand.

Julius Baer has appointed Urs Brudermann as group head of Thailand, according to a statement. In this newly created role, he will oversee the bank’s offshore Thailand coverage and the joint venture with Siam Commercial Bank, SCB Julius Baer. He is based in Singapore and reports to Shui Wei Homarket leader for Thailand and Asia Switzerland.

Brudermann has over 24 years of experience in asset management, including 12 years in Singapore, where he held senior roles across markets in Southeast Asia. He most recently worked at Deutsche Bank as Market Head of Southeast Asia, focusing on Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Before joining the German lender in 2021, he spent 11 years at Credit Suisse.

Strategic importance

According to Julius Baer, ​​Thailand is a strategically important market, with a number of senior appointments announced in 2024. Ho was named market leader for Thailand, alongside Japan and Asia Switzerland. 27-year veteran Peerapong Jirasevijinda was also appointed CEO of SCB in April 2024, Julius Baer.
