Travis Kelce Described As ‘Just The Sweetest Guy’ By Chiefs Fan (Exclusive)

Travis Kelce is back at Chiefs level — and one fan is especially happy to see him!

After a hectic summer with girlfriend Taylor Swift (who attended his 13th and 14th Eras Tour in Germany last week), the Kansas City Chiefs tight end returned to Missouri for training camp. There, one diehard fan spoke to PEOPLE about her past experiences with the star.

Pam — a 57-year-old Chiefs fan from Lost Springs, Kansas — left her house at midnight and arrived at training camp around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, to secure a spot right in front of the goal post. As a longtime training camp attendee, she knows where to go to get autographs from players.

Kelce, 34, didn’t sign any autographs on Sunday, but Pam says the tight end has always been “the nicest guy” — and remembers the very first time he signed something for her.

“The first time we got his autograph, I had my mom with me, who turned 87 this year,” Pam tells PEOPLE. “He was standing right in front of us and my mom touched him on the arm. I was like, ‘Mom, you can’t do that!’ But he didn’t mind.”

“He just kept thanking us for coming. He’s just the sweetest guy,” she says, noting that the tight end is also “so incredibly nice.”

Kelce normally signs a ton of autographs every day during training camp, but Pam says she didn’t see the star interacting with any fans on Sunday — although there were plenty of people who wanted to catch a glimpse of him.

“I knew we’d have more people here with the Swifties coming. I love Taylor, but I love Travis,” she tells PEOPLE. “I’ve loved him for a long time.”

Pam plans to return to camp seven more times in July and August, arriving just as early, to greet Kelce and get his autograph again.

“I’m glad he’s back,” she says. “I was worried he would retire and just go to the shows with Taylor, but hopefully he stays with us and we keep winning championships.”

“They seem like a really good match,” she says of Kelce and Swift, 34, adding that she’s “not worried about (Kelce’s) focus at all” this upcoming season.

“He’s a professional. He has a love for the game,” Pam says. “He’s the go-to guy.”

Plus, she says, the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl victories and the attention Swift and Kelce’s romance is bringing the franchise are “amazing.”

“It’s something we can’t take for granted,” she says. “I know there’s a lot of people who jumped on the bandwagon when we were doing well, but I’ve been through two wins and 14 losses, so this is really special.”

And Pam has even helped some of the hangers-on — as she describes them — appreciate the Kansas City team the way she does. “I’ve had season tickets for a long time, and I know I had a game where there were a couple of Swifties behind me who didn’t really understand what football was, but I helped them,” she tells PEOPLE.

“We’re America’s team now,” she adds. “Everyone’s going to be rooting for us.”
