Swedish club cannot rely on injury-prone Abdullahi

Swedish club IFK Goteborg have admitted they will be unable to call on striker Suleiman Abdullahi due to his ongoing injury problems.

Abdullahi has played just 28 games since arriving in Sweden two years ago.

The 27-year-old’s contract with IFK Göteborg runs until the 2025 season.

Last week IFK Göteborg announced that the former Flying Eagles striker was in Norway for a trial period with Stabaek.

Ola Larsson, technical director, explained that Abdullahi is not yet completely injury-free and that they want to avoid such situations.

“We need to move away from that and instead have more players participating in the business on a daily basis,” he told Expressen.

“’Sulle’ is not that kind of player for us.

However, there are other clubs that can accept such a situation.”

Larsson does not know whether the striker has played his last game for Gothenburg.

“No idea,” he admitted simply.
