Moscow’s MiG-29, MiG-31 “Repel US B-52H Bombers”? Russia “Shoos Down” 2 ATACMS Over Kherson

Russia said its fighter jets on July 21 stopped two US strategic bombers from crossing the state border over the Barents Sea. Moscow’s Defense Ministry said it deployed MiG-29 and MiG-31 fighter jets in response to the US bombers. The Russian MiGs identified the planes as two US В-52Н strategic bombers. “Russian aircraft safely returned to their home airfields, the violation of the Russian state border was prevented,” the Defense Ministry added. The Russian jets carried out the flight in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters, it added. Russia has previously reported similar incidents when its planes encountered NATO military aircraft flying close to its border.
