Barcelona defender chooses club favourite for hamstring surgery – report

Ronald Araujo’s Copa America campaign came to a disappointing end when he suffered an injury during Uruguay’s semi-final against Brazil, and was later ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.

Earlier this month, Barcelona confirmed that Araujo has decided to undergo surgery, sparking rumours that the defender could be sidelined until the end of the year.

A recent report from Mundo Deportivo provides an update on the recovery of Ronald Araujo, who will travel to Turkey and Finland for his surgery.

Initial investigations suggested that conservative treatment could be an option, but after the inflammation subsided, the Barcelona medical team recommended surgery to minimize the risk of relapse.

Araujo is no stranger to Dr. Lempainen’s expertise, with several Barcelona players, including Alejandro Balde, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati and Sergi Roberto, having undergone successful surgeries under his care.

The surgery will cause Araujo to miss a large portion of the upcoming season, but he is expected to return sometime in December.

Barcelona are expected to provide further updates on the progress of his recovery in due course, but for now the club will have to make do with limited resources in defence.

Shortly after Araujo’s injury, it was reported that Barca would retain both Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez to compensate for the loss of the Uruguay international.

As the summer progresses, it will be interesting to see how Barcelona deal with the absence of Ronald Araujo at the start of the new season.
