Arsenal are set to officially announce the signing of Netherlands national team goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar from Aston Villa.

Sources close to the club have confirmed that the 24-year-old has agreed terms with the Gunners, with an announcement expected to be made shortly.

The strategic move comes as Arsenal look to bolster their goalkeeping line-up following the departures of Sabrina D’Angelo and Kaylan Marckese. The recent tour of Australia highlighted the need for reinforcements, with the team relying on stand-in goalkeepers Sarah Bouhaddi and young talent Naomi Williams.

Under manager Jonas Eidevall, Arsenal are looking for a top goalkeeper to compete with Manuela Zinsberger. The arrival of Van Domselaar is expected to provide much-needed competition and depth in the goalkeeping position.

Although no financial details of the transfer have been released, Van Domselaar’s contract with Aston Villa is set to expire in mid-2026.

Daphne van Domselaar, born on March 6, 2000, started her football career at LSVV in Zuid-Scharwoude. Her talent and quick learning ability were evident at a young age, which led her through the youth academy and led to her joining the Telstar youth academy in 2017.

Van Domselaar’s breakthrough came during the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 Championship, where she showed her exceptional goalkeeping skills for the Dutch national team. Her performances attracted the attention of several clubs, but she chose to stay with FC Twente for another season.
