Arsenal to talk to agent of £30m winger after Liverpool bid

The 24-year-old has attracted a lot of attention following his impressive performances at Euro 2024, which was reportedly attended by scouts from both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

While Yilmaz’s agent will hold talks with both north London clubs, Galatasaray have set a minimum price of €30 million for the Turkey international. This valuation could pose a challenge for potential buyers, including Arsenal, who will have to weigh the financial implications of the transfer against their other demands in the market.

The young winger’s journey to prominence has been a steady one. He began his career at Rize İl Özel İdarespor in 2012, rising through the ranks to play for Ankara Demirspor and Ankara Keçiörengücü before joining Galatasaray in 2021. There, he has 11 goals and 14 assists in 108 total appearances.

Yılmaz’s breakthrough season at Galatasaray played a pivotal role in the club’s triumphant 2022-23 Süper Lig campaign, which culminated in their 23rd championship title. Last season, he scored six goals in 37 Süper Lig appearances (28 as a starter, with seven assists), helping them retain the title.

His contract with the Turkish giants was extended last year until 2027 and he is valued at around €20 million on the open market.

Yılmaz’s international career has also blossomed, earning him a place in Turkey’s 26-man squad for UEFA Euro 2024. He has played in every minute of their five matches, showing his versatility by playing as a striker in four of them. His first international goal came in a crucial 1–0 win over Croatia in the qualifying stage.

Arsenal’s interest in Yilmaz signals their intention to strengthen their attacking options, particularly on the right wing. However, they face stiff competition from a number of Premier League rivals, including Tottenham, Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa and Liverpool.

Sabah also reports that Liverpool have already made a €30 million offer prior to the talks.

According to Sport Witness, the reports in the Turkish media can sometimes be exaggerated, so it remains to be seen to what extent a bidding war will develop in the coming weeks.
