Plague of goats and sheep discovered in Romania ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – Business

The Plague of Small Ruminants (PPR) virus has been detected in a zoo in Romania, in the village of Baia (Tulca County). The sheep population in this village is 49,091 sheep, the National Veterinary and Food Safety Administration reported.

According to current legislation, local authorities have decided to immediately slaughter all animals on the zoo territory. A safety zone (radius 3 km) and a control zone (radius 10 km) have been created around the outbreak and measures have been taken to limit the movement of people, animals and vehicles.

PPR is an acute viral disease of small ruminants that can cause enormous economic damage to goat and sheep farming. This is a particularly dangerous exotic disease that poses a threat.
