Manchester City prepare for £50m transfer fee as Joshua Kimmich update emerges

Manchester City could be preparing for a transfer fee involving Dani Olmo following Barcelona’s proposal.

The forward was one of Spain’s standout performers at Euro 2024, helping his country to European glory. City have been linked with Olmo for at least five seasons, with the forward scoring against them in the Champions League for Dinamo Zagreb in 2019.

A training in Barcelona’s youth academy adds to Pep Guardiola’s appeal. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Olmo’s agent has already received a “firm proposal” from Barcelona in which they have offered the forward a six-year contract.

It is believed that RB Leipzig would receive £50 million (€60 million). Although his £50 million release clause expired on July 20, it is believed that the player and his representatives managed to persuade the German club to maintain that figure for a few more weeks.

Barca’s proposal will now be studied by Olmo’s entourage. City are mentioned as interested, along with Bayern Munich, but it remains to be seen whether the reigning champions will make further additions to their squad following Savio’s announcement.

Elsewhere, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has provided an update on the future of Joshua Kimmich amid interest from City. The 29-year-old has not had his contract with the German giants extended since 2021 and could become a free agent this time next year.
