Trump says he had ‘very good conversation’ with Zelensky, vows to end war

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – Monitoring: Zelensky also reported his conversation with Trump and thanked for the US military aid. But he did not refer to efforts to end the 28-month conflict in a message on social media platform X.
Trump has said he will end the war in Ukraine before he takes office in January if he wins the Nov. 5 election. He has also said that if he had been in office when the Kremlin sent troops to Ukraine in February 2022, the war would not have happened.
In his Truth Social post, Trump said that as president he will “bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives.”
“Both sides will be able to come together and negotiate a deal that ends the violence and paves the way for prosperity,” Trump said.
While Trump has offered few concrete policy proposals, he said in an interview last year that Ukraine might have to cede some territory to reach a peace deal.
In his message, Zelensky wrote that he congratulated Trump on his nomination as the Republican presidential candidate and condemned the attempted assassination of him last week.
“I wished him strength and absolute security in the future,” Zelensky said. “I noted the vital bipartisan and bicameral American support for protecting the freedom and independence of our nation.”/Dawn
