In a few hours, the 13th race of the 2024 Formula 1 season will be upon us. After a week of rest, the European racing summer will continue at a rapid pace, starting with the 40th edition of the Hungarian Grand Prix, from Great Britain.

We are now past the halfway point and the pressure is really mounting for the 20 drivers competing in the 2024 Formula 1 season. Max Verstappen is still the man to beat after 12 races, but Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton have done so in the last two races.

Russell and Hamilton have won the Austrian and British Grands Prix respectively and the Dutchman, who has won seven of the 12 races so far in 2024, will be pushing to make it eight of the 13 this weekend.

Verstappen still has a comfortable lead in his battle for a fourth consecutive drivers’ world championship. He leads the standings with 84 points and has comfortably won the last two races at the Hungaroring. The Red Bull driver is now hoping to win three in a row.

After taking his first win in 945 days at the circuit that bears his name, Hamilton will also be keen to push Verstappen, Russell and future Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc back to the top of the podium – he was the last driver other than Verstappen to win in Hungary in 2020.
