A plane carrying 233 people made an emergency landing at Athens International Airport (AIA) on Friday, local media reported on Saturday.

All passengers and crew were safe. The plane had departed from London for Chania Airport on the Greek island of Crete and reported problems in the hydraulic system.

Greek authorities said the incident was unrelated to a global outage on Friday that disrupted operations in several countries across many sectors, including aviation.

AIA experienced minor problems due to the technical failure and at least eight flights were delayed at Heraklion airport on the island of Crete, local authorities said.
