Chanettee Wannasaen shot a 5-under-par 66 on Saturday to continue her excellent start at the Dana Open in Sylvania, Ohio.

The Thailand product made six birdies, including one on No. 18 to close out her round, extending her lead from Friday from one stroke to three. Wannasaen, who previously won the Portland Classic in 2023, is now 16-under 197 for the tournament.

Wannasaen has collected 17 birdies against just three bogeys over the first 54 holes.

“Yeah, I didn’t expect that,” Wannasaen said. “But I’m playing really well this week.”

On Saturday, Wannasaen started steadily with birdies on Nos. 2 and 9, while making pars on the rest of the front nine. She quickly warmed up with three straight birdies on Nos. 12-14, before bogeying 16 and her final birdie on 18.

“I think I’m not going to think about the result because I don’t want to stress about tomorrow,” Wannasaen said. “So just stay in the present. Don’t think about the future.”

Wannasaen’s biggest rival is South Korea’s Haeran Ryu, who is on 13 under par after posting a 65 (-6) on Saturday.

Ryu made bogey on the par-5 seventh hole, but seven birdies more than made up for it.

Reigning tournament champion Linn Grant of Sweden was a further four strokes behind the fastest golfer with a score of 1-under 70, which puts her in a tie for third place with two other golfers: Ssu-Chia Cheng of Taiwan (66 on Saturday) and Xiyu Lin of China (70).

Grant closed out a mixed day with four birdies and three bogeys. Lin recovered from a poor start — three bogeys in the first 11 holes — to make four birdies in a series of five holes (Nos. 14-18) on the back nine.

Meanwhile, Cheng had six birdies and one bogey.

“I just stay patient out there,” Cheng said. “I didn’t really have the best start like today or even the last two days. I just stayed patient out there and just took it one shot at a time.”

One stroke behind those three is another trio of golfers tied for sixth at 10 under. That group includes Lucy Li (67), Hyo Joon Jang of South Korea (64) and Mary Liu of China (70).

Jang equalled Malia Nam (T12 with 8 under) with her round and was therefore the best of the day.

Lexi Thompson, who had a flyover in her honor on Friday, is tied for 40th after finishing 2-under-par on Saturday at 3-under-par for the tournament.
