There is currently a lot of attention on where the next Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Switzerland, but that will not hinder our focus on the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Somewhere last week it was announced by the Portuguese broadcaster (RTP) that they had found a singer, and now the Spanish broadcaster and this year’s presenter (RTVE) have also announced their representative.

Portugal in JESC 2025

Portugal has been a regular participant in the competition since 2017, with the exception of 2020. In 2024, they will again participate in the junior edition, which will be held on the Iberian Peninsula in neighbouring Spain, in Madrid.

Portugal has been selecting their young artists in recent years through “The Voice Kids“and that remains their method for 2024. Victoria Nicole is the name of this season’s “The Voice Kids” winner and has thus earned the right to represent Portugal this year.

The young singer is currently 13 years old and is actually of Venezuelan descent, something that could come in handy in Spain. However, she has settled in Portugal, together with her parents and dog. Since she started singing ABBA songs at a young age, she has enrolled in a singing academy, learned to play both piano and ukulele and even writes her own songs. Besides singing, she also enjoys cooking and drawing.

On the other hand, Spain used an alternative way to select their representative, by holding a closed audition for children eligible to participate, something that the country has been doing since its return in 2019. The method has also proven successful, with three top 3 placements since then.

This year the selection fell on Chloe DelaRosawho will represent Spain on home soil. She came out on top in the auditions, competing with almost 300 auditionees.

The young singer describes herself as a “cantista”, which is a combination of the words singer and artist, in Spanish. She has been performing since she was 3 years old and has only started recording in recent years, performing covers of various songs by artists from the Spanish-speaking parts of the American continent.

Now both artists will be busy preparing their songs for the competition, which will be held in November. The songs will be selected internally for both singers and will be released at a later date.
