Celebrity bride criticized for ‘completely trashy’ wedding dress: ‘Ugly and uncomfortable’

A celebrity bride has divided opinions online after sharing snaps of her sheer wedding dress that could almost be mistaken for underwear. Pernille August Rosenkilde, a Danish influencer with over 178,000 followers on Instagram, designed and created her own wedding dress.

It consisted of a white feathered bodice attached to a sheer silk organza skirt, leaving little to the imagination. She wore what appeared to be a high-waisted white petticoat underneath, and accessorized with a white veil and a small bouquet of flowers.

One of her wedding photos was shared on a popular Facebook wedding shaming group, with the outraged contributor writing: “Not blurred because she’s a Danish influencer. This woman wore this to a church wedding. Like. She showed up in underwear at a place of worship.”

Most people responded that they didn’t see what the wedding location had to do with her outfit, but that they didn’t like her outfit at all.

“It’s not even cute. It’s just plain trashy. If she wanted attention, she got it. A fuzzy onesie or a wedding suit. Wow,” someone said.

“When I lived in Denmark it wasn’t really a prudish or overly religious community. A lot of the old churches had been turned into bars and restaurants lol. So I don’t really care but the outfit is pretty ugly. I’m not a fan of feathers,” added another.

“I don’t care if it was a pancake house. It’s an ugly, uncomfortable outfit with granny panties and a Muppet top,” a third commented.

“Granny panties. Lol that is the most unflattering wedding dress I’ve ever seen,” said another.

However, there were also people who saw the vision and had a different perspective on it.

“Is it bad? I think this is cute for a non-wedding? I would definitely wear this to something… like maybe a concert,” one person commented.

“She looks damn good,” another commented.

“If she feels beautiful, I’m not going to curse her,” said a third.

“They look happy and sweet to me,” wrote another.

In an interview with British VoguePernille said she was thrilled with how her dress turned out. She spent around 50 hours hand-dyeing each bodice feather with tea before sewing them on. It was her version of the “naked dress” that she wanted to make “more elegant and stylish.”

“It was worth it,” she told the publication. “The dress turned out to be everything I dreamed of, and Jeppe (her husband) thought it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.”

“I love wearing feathers and sheer fabrics, but I also wanted the dress to be elegant, classy and a little bit sexy,” she added. “I wanted the dress to be the centerpiece, so I kept the accessories subtle. The sheer skirt of the dress didn’t want to compete with any crazy shoes, so the silver mesh Bottega Veneta heels were perfect.”

The dress code for their guests was “lead character energy,” and the bride and groom loved how this was interpreted.

In the end, Pernille and Jeppe both enjoyed every moment of their wedding and will cherish the photos for many years to come. The criticism from internet users will soon be forgotten.
