Babatunde Akomolede extended the lead with a spectacular long-range strike before half-time. Lucky John added a third goal in the 55th minute and Sporting Lagos completed their victory with a fourth.

Akomolede, who was named Most Valuable Player of the final, expressed his joy at the team’s performance. He stated: “The team’s performance was outstanding, just perfect. I don’t know how to describe the joy I feel right now. It’s just too much.”

This victory marks a major milestone for Nigerian football as Sporting Lagos becomes the first club from the country to win a trophy at the Gothia Cup. The team’s success comes after beating Nigerian team Beyond Limits earlier in the tournament.
