Poland urges EU campaign to combat Russian disinformation ahead of US elections

Poland is calling on the European Union to launch a public awareness campaign in the United States to highlight the significance of the EU-US relationship. The move is intended to counter Russian disinformation in the run-up to the US presidential election on 5 November.

In a paper prepared for a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday, Poland stressed the urgency of countering misleading narratives that could drive a wedge between the EU and Washington. The paper urged the EU to take “swift and decisive action” to strengthen transatlantic ties through strategic communications in the US.

The document outlines concerns that Russian state media and online platforms are spreading false information about U.S. immigration and border security. The Polish initiative also seeks to highlight European aid to Ukraine, saying this narrative should be shared with the American public to counter claims of insufficient support.
