She’s Back! Jody Williams Sings a Thrilling National Anthem (Video)

After ditching her music career for a career out of the spotlight, former Idols SA winner Jody Williams gave fans a taste of her electrifying singing skills when she sang the national anthem for the Springboks in Bloemfontein.

The singer from Cape Town sang Nkosi Sikel’i Africa at the Toyota Stadium, where the Boks took on Portugal.

Jody was only 17 when she won the show’s fourth season in 2007.

On social media, Springbok fans are once again cheering the great performance of the national anthem sung by Jody Williams.

On her Instagram account, Jody acknowledged her achievement during the historic race.

WHY DID EX-IDOLS SA SINGER STOP HIS MUSIC CAREER?

In 2019, Jody Williams sensationally claimed that her appearance on Idol had “ruined” her life.

The award-winning star revealed that her life had spiralled out of control after she made some bad decisions with her money.

When her performances dwindled and money became scarce, Jody sold her parents’ house and went to work in an office as an administrative assistant.

She said The Daily Voice: “Idols showed me the world, traveling overseas and meeting international artists. All I saw was money and a good life, but that was just the child in me.

“If we had only had a life coach and financial advisor when I won Idols, I think everything would have been very different.

Jody added: “I’m so happy with what I do. Music ruined me as a young adult and I was craving stability. I spoke to my family and told them I didn’t want to do music anymore. I do it as a hobby now, but I don’t want to sing for a living anymore.”
