Academy of Football graduate and 2023 FA Youth Cup winner Kaelan Casey and Italian left-back Emerson, at the other end of the experience scale, complete the defence.

In midfield, another Academy graduate, Freddie Potts – who enjoyed a stellar loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers last season – will be flanked by another FA Youth Cup winner in Lewis Orford and James Ward-Prowse, who is starting his second season with the Hammers.

In attack, Maxwel Cornet, who scored in the 2-2 pre-season draw against the same opponents last summer, and Brazil Under-20 international Luis Guilherme – Lopetegui’s first signing at the club – will support Northern Ireland international Callum Marshall.
