Russia may supply anti-ship missile to Yemen: report

A US newspaper, citing US intelligence agencies, claims that Russia may equip Yemen with advanced anti-ship missiles in retaliation for the Biden administration’s support for Ukraine.

The American Wall Street Journal newspaper, citing US intelligence agencies, claimed that Russia may arm Yemen with advanced anti-ship missiles in retaliation for the Biden administration’s support for Ukrainian attacks on Russia using US weapons.

Earlier in the day, a Singapore-flagged cargo ship was hit by Yemeni missiles in the Gulf of Aden on Friday, forcing the ship to return to its last port of call to assess the damage.

The Yemeni army fired ballistic missiles and drones at the ship, their military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a televised speech.

The ship was hit twice on its port side by two missiles 83 nautical miles southeast of the Yemeni port of Aden. The extent of the damage has yet to be determined, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.
