After days of speculation, new Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir will be adding new members to his support staff. Former India all-rounder Abhishek Nayar and former Netherlands cricketer Ryan ten Doeschate will reportedly join Gambhir as he prepares for his tenure as Team India coach with the Sri Lanka tour.

Both Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate will be added to the Team India coaching staff as assistant coaches to Gambhir, while T Dilip will be retained as fielding coach, Cricbuzz reported on Saturday.

Dilip’s tenure came to an end after the 2024 T20 World Cup, which also saw Rahul Dravid (head coach), Vikram Rathour (batting coach) and Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach) leave their respective roles. But Dilip has been retained as he is immensely popular among the players and played a big role in helping build a strong bond.

There is no clarity on who will be the bowling coach, replacing Mhambrey. The report stated that Moren Morkel, who worked with Gambhir at Lucknow Super Giant in the same capacity, is a strong candidate for the role.
