GSTAAD, SWITZERLAND — Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime was eliminated from the Swiss Open clay tennis tournament on Friday after a 7-6 (9), 7-6 (2) quarterfinal loss to Italy’s Matteo Berrettini.

Berrettini took a 5-0 lead in the second tiebreak before converting his first match point on his serve.

Auger-Aliassime missed a chance to take the first set when Berrettini came back from a triple break point in the sixth game to level the score at 3-3.

The Italian then converted a set point on the return of the ensuing tiebreak when Auger-Aliassime ended a six-stroke rally with an unforced error.
