BOZEMAN — Montana State sophomore Isobel Bunyan was one of 12 players selected to the British U20 team, which will compete in the FIBA European Division B Championships from July 6-14 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Bunyan, a native of Tonyrefail, Wales, played in all 33 games for the Bobcats last season as a freshman. The 6-foot guard averaged 5.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 21.2 minutes per game, helping Montana State to a fourth-place finish in the Big Sky Conference.

“We’re excited and very proud of Issy for making the U20 team,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “It’s going to be an amazing experience. She’s going to play against some great opponents.

“Making a national team is not easy, but Issy’s versatility is a trait most coaches want on a team. She is skilled on both ends of the field and we look forward to her bringing that experience to our program.”

Great Britain will play in Group D alongside the Netherlands and Romania. The first match against the Netherlands is scheduled for Sunday 7 July at 6:30 am Mountain Time, followed by Romania on Monday at 9 am Mountain Time.

The semi-finals will take place on July 13, the third place and championship matches on July 14.

Other countries taking part in the tournament include Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and Ukraine.

In addition to Bunyan, three other NCAA Division I players were on UK’s roster, including St. Francis’ Katie Januszewska, Fordham’s Precious Omoshola and Sacramento State/Chico State’s Kaylie Edger.
