Germany’s Wintershall Dea and its Norwegian partners Petoro and DNO have discovered a gas condensate at the Cuvette prospect in the northern North Sea, the operator said in a statement on Wednesday.

The well was drilled just south of Wintershall Dea’s Vega Central field and the partners will consider whether the discovery can be brought into production quickly using existing infrastructure in the area, the company added.

The combined recoverable volume is estimated at between 16 million and 38 million barrels of oil equivalent, Wintershall Dea said.

The Norwegian Offshore Directorate separately confirmed that a discovery had been made at well 35/11-27 S, 100 kilometers southwest of Florø. Transocean Norge’s drilling rig drilled the well.
