Konecranes has introduced a heavy-duty version of its E-VER electric forklift truck, as the company continues its plan to electrify its entire forklift fleet by the end of 2026.

The increase in capacity to 25 T gives the Finnish equipment manufacturer its E-VER greater versatility for heavy-duty applications in heavy industries such as steel, mining and ports.

“Increased capacity on the E-VER is the next step towards zero tailpipe emissions across our entire lift truck portfolio,” said Jeffrey Stokes, director of product and technology management for Konecrane’s forklift division.

“As the global market transitions to carbon neutrality, an even broader responsibility for the environment is becoming apparent. We have a product roadmap to deliver the right products at the right time, paving the way for a low-carbon and circular world by eliminating emissions across the entire value chain, from production to use, and ultimately enabling repurposing and efficient recycling .”

The new 18T to 25T Konecranes E-VER is powered by a lithium-ion (li-ion) battery pack that enables rapid charging in less than an hour and allows replenishing braking energy during busy work shifts, as well as slower charging when not in use.

When the battery can no longer hold enough charge to run the engines, the battery can be reused as an energy reserve at charging stations, or as a backup power supply if regular sources fail.

At the end of their useful life cycle, the Li-ion batteries can be taken apart for recycling.
